Pine Bluff Transit is the oldest transit system in the state of Arkansas. The city of Pine Bluff had a transit system since 1870 when it was operated by the private sector and owned by Walter "Wiley" Jones, a prominent African American businessman. However, it was formed as a professional public transportation agency on September 15, 1975 once purchased by the city of Pine Bluff. Pine Bluff Transit provides year-round, dependable fixed-route and demand-response transit services to residents and visitors of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Covering primarily residential, commercial, and industrial areas, Pine Bluff Transit connects the community to work, school, shopping, medical services, and more.
Transit System Overview
- Main Office & Operations Facility: 2300 Harding Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR
- Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 6am-6pm
- Fleet: 8 front-line transit vehicles, plus reserve and support vehicles
- Staffing: Management, 6 full-time transit operators, 4 part-time and maintenance staff, 3 administrative personnel
- Annual Ridership (2024): Over 42.000 passenger trips; Fixed Route 34,004 and ADA for 8,378 trips
- Service Area: City of Pine Bluff
- Special Service: Demand-response service for seniors and individuals with disabilities
